1. Tambah RAM 
   pada Dasarnya Windows 7 memang lebih ringan dari Windows 8, namun jika Anda mengupgrade dari Windows XP, pasti akan merasakan kinerja yang sedikit lambat. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasinya adalah dengan menambah RAM di komputer Anda. Ukuran RAM ideal untuk Windows 7 32-bit adalah 2GB sedangkan untuk versi 64-bit adalah 4GB. Nah, jika kapasitas RAM komputer Anda masih di bawah itu, maka sangat disarankan untuk menambahnya gara kinerja Windows 7 semakin ringkas. 2. Uninstall Bloatware 
   Selanjutnya adalah Bloatware merupakan istilah yang merujuk kepada software yang sudah terinstal ketika Anda membeli PC atau laptop. Berbagai software tersebut biasanya banyak yang tidak dibutuhkan sehingga hanya menghabiskan ruang dan daya komputer saja. Beberapa software tersebut juga ada yang berjalan otomatis ketika komputer dinyalakan sehingga akan memperlambat proses booting. Maka dari itu, software tersebut harus segera disingkirkan agar Windows 7 Anda bisa bekerja lebih cepat lagi. Caranya Anda hanya tinggal membuka Start Menu > Control Panel > Uninstall or change program, lalu uninstall software yang tidak digunakan tersebut.dengan begitu beban Booting Komputer akan Berkurang dan mempercepat Kinerjanya.
   
   
3. Ubah Power Settings 
   di dalam Windows 7 biasanya memberikan beberapa pilihan Power Settings yang akan mempengaruhi performa komputer secara keseluruhan. Jika Anda menggunakan PC atau laptop yang terhubung dengan listrik, maka pilihlah opsi High Performance untuk mendapatkan performa yang maksimal. Opsi High Performance akan meningkatkan kinerja komputer Anda hingga maksimal. Akan tetapi jika Anda sedang menggunakan laptop yang tidak terhubung ke listrik, maka jangan pilih opsi ini karena akan mempercepat habisnya daya baterai. 
   
   
4. Batasi Startup Process
   Langkah selanjutnya yang dapat Anda lakukan adalah membatasi proses yang berjalan ketika Windows 7 dinyalakan. Caranya, ketik MSCONFIG di kolom pencarian lalu enter. Selanjutnya bukalah tab Startup di mana Anda akan melihat daftar proses dan aplikasi beserta pengaturannya. Nah, dari daftar tersebut carilah proses yang sekiranya tidak diperlukan untuk berjalan ketika start up seperti contohnya GoogleUpdate dan QuickTime. Selanjutnya hilangkan ceklis pada proses tersebut untuk mematikannya.
   
   
5. Bersihkan Hard Disk
   langkah selanjutnya adalah Selain melakukan defrag, kita juga harus rajin membersihkan hard disk secara berkala. Caranya, buka Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup. Fitur Disk Cleanup ini akan membersihkan berbagai data sampah dari hard disk Anda seperti temporary file, offline web page, cache, recycle bin, dan lainnya.  cara ini sangat berpengatuh terhadap kecepatan kinerja Komputer.
   
   
6. Matikan Desktop Gadgets 
   Disamping Gadget Deskop ialah sebagai pelengkap Sebuah Tampilan Desktop atau PC tapi jarang orang mengetahui kalau menambah Gadget di Desktop akan berdampak terhadap kecepatan Komputer Sekarang saatnya beralih ke pengaturan yang berkaitan dengan tampilan visual. Seperti kita ketahui, Windows 7 tidak lagi menampilkan sidebar seperti layaknya Windows Vista. Namun ternyata masih ada beberapa proses sidebar tersebut yang masih berjalan. Nah, maka dari itu kita harus mematikannya agar tidak membuat komputer menjadi lambat. Caranya, ketik “gadget” di kolom pencarian Start Menu, lalu pilih “View list of running gadgets”. Setelah itu, hapuslah berbagai macam gadget yang tidak Anda perlukan tersebut. 
   
   
7. Matikan Efek 
   Efek Aero jarang banyak pengguna Windows 7 yang mengetahuinya, Efek  Aero merupakan salah satu efek yang mempercantik tampilan Windows 7. Namun fitur ini seakan menjadi pedang bermata dua karena di satu sisi akan mempercantik tampilan dan di sisi yang lain akan membuat performa komputer menjadi lambat. Jika Anda lebih mementingkan performa, maka silahkan matikan saja fitur ini. Caranya, klik Start lalu klik kanan pada Computer, pilih properties > Advance system setting > tab advanced, lalu pada bagian performance klik setting. Di sana Anda dapat memilih beberapa fitur yang ingin dimatikan atau diaktifkan. Jika ingin mendapatkan performa terbaik, maka pilihlah opsi “Adjust for best performance”. Opsi tersebut akan merubah total tampilan komputer Anda seperti layaknya Windows 2000.

At this point in time the Windows operating system is still the most common desktop operating system, thus I will be detailing the installation of VirtualBox  using Windows 7. However, the installation is straightforward for all OS's, so  you should not shy away from installing it on your favorite platform.

Chapter 1

Almost every tool we use throughout the book is Linux or FreeBSD based. Because many people use Windows as their primary desktop we will provide instructions on installing VirtualBox on Windows 7. Once you have it up and running, you will be able to follow along regardless of which operating system is used as the host machine for your virtual test environment.

1. Go to http://www.virtualbox.org/. 

2. Click on the Downloads link on the left side of the page. 

3. Download the latest version of VirtualBox for Windows hosts x86/amd64. 

4. Begin the installation (you may need to begin the installation as administrator depending on your        system configuration). 

5. Click on Next> at the initial setup window. 

6. Ensure that the installation location is where you would like the program to be installed and that all      options to be installed are selected  and click on Next>. 

7. Select the options you prefer in regards to desktop shortcuts and  click on Next >. 

8. Click on Yes if you would like to proceed with the installation using the settings you selected on          the previous screens. 

9. Click on Install to proceed with installation. This step may take some time depending on your            system performance. You may be asked to  install device software as well, at which point you will      have to click on Install in the pop-up window.

10. Click on Finish to be presented with the Oracle VirtualBox Manager
